In Memory of Alice Kuzia
Alice (Herman) Kuzia, 83, of Avon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Alice was the beloved wife of John J. Kuzia. Born in Starrucca, PA, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mildred (Kane) Herman. She was raised in Pennsylvania where she attended local schools. John and Alice married in August 1967.
Alice was a loving, dedicated mother to her three sons, Christopher, Kevin, and Jason. In their youth, Alice could most often be found volunteering at their schools, cheering them on at their games or baking her famous chocolate chip cookies to share with friends and family. She also loved to buy clothes for her granddaughter Poppy.
Alice and John moved their family to Avon, Connecticut in 1981 where they became members of the Church of Saint Ann. She served as a Eucharistic minister, notably bringing communion and friendship to the homebound for decades. Alice’s patient and steadfast faith was exemplified through her service on the funeral ministry and as a CCD teacher. Alice was a faithful member of the church community and will be deeply missed. She enjoyed gardening and reading, but above all, Alice cherished the time spent with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three sons, Christopher J. Kuzia (Susan) of West Hartford, Kevin M. Kuzia of Glastonbury, and Jason M. Kuzia (Amanda Jill) of Roswell, GA; her brother, Donald Herman (Margaret) of Johnson City, NY; and her four beloved grandchildren, Colin, Samuel, Archer, and Penelope Kuzia. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her daughter, Ann Marie Kuzia; her brother Peter Herman; and her sisters, Theresa Palmer, and Arlene Herman.
